NC  Living history, “A Walk Through Christmas Past,” special tours at the CSS Neuse State Historic Site in Kinston. 6-8 pm. Timed adult tickets $10.

6-7  KS  Candlelight tour at Fort Scott National Historic Site in Fort Scott. Tours highlight various historical periods including “Bleeding Kansas” and Civil War. Tours leave every 15 minutes 6:30-9 pm. Tickets, more info:

  Living history, “Christmas at the Forts,” at Forts Randolph and Buhlow State Historic Site in Pineville. Recreates the 1864 holiday. 10 am-4 pm. Free with admission.

GA Ranger program, “Life of the Common Soldier,” at the Kennesaw Mountain NBP in Kennesaw. 11 am. Free. 

MD  Lecture, “Active and Efficient: The Stretcher Bearers and Ambulance Drivers,” at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick. Demonstrations 2:30 pm. Free with admission.

7  MD   Annual Memorial Illumination at the Antietam National Battlefield near Sharpsburg. Driving tour featuring 23,000 candles. Begins 6 pm. Expect delays, long lines. Visitor center closes 3 pm. Free.
